OUR MEMBERS

Our membership consists of boys and girls from Henley and the surrounding areas. We welcome juniors from school year 5, through to the end of secondary school.

Our members are of a range of abilities; we cater for those who are very serious about the sport and will qualify for the inter-regional championships at the end of the season as well as youngsters who have taken up triathlon for fun, exercise and to make new friends. We do, however, require our members to be able to swim to a certain level in order to ensure that they will be able to benefit from the training sessions and will be safe in an open water situation. Our head coach will be able to advise regarding swim ability following a potential member's trial session(s).

OUR TRAINING SESSIONS

Club training sessions run during state school term times on Wednesday and Thursday evenings.

On Wednesdays we run swim training sessions. In the winter months, these take place at Henley Leisure Centre from 7:15 to 8:00. Please arrive by 7:10 at the latest to ensure a prompt start. In the summer, training usually takes place in an open water location. Coaches will advise where this will be and specific session times from Easter onwards.

On Thursdays we run bike and run training sessions in the grounds of Shiplake College from 6:30 to 8:00. Please arrive as promptly as possible so that everyone can help get the equipment set up.

OUR COACHES AND COMMITTEE

Our head coach is Great Britain triathlete and professional individual coach Sophie Whitworth.

Sophie is supported by a team of her professional coaching contacts, plus parents of our junior members who have qualified as Level 1 and Level 2 triathlon coaches.

We rely on parental support at our sessions and as a parent of a junior member, you are required to take an occasional turn at helping out during a training session.

Our club is run by a dedicated team of volunteers who put in many hours every week to ensure that all our junior members receive the best possible experience and that top quality health and safety measures are in place.

We hold an AGM in January and are always open to new parents volunteering for roles both on, and in support of, the committee.
